5 Ways to Get Your Lake On This July 4th

Summer is a time for fun, relaxation, and celebrating America through national holidays like Memorial Day or our personal favorite, Independence Day! Whether you host a BBQ or spend your day on the lake, here are five ways to have a Fourth of July celebration filled with excitement!

In America, holiday parades are a crowd favorite. Whether you live near a big city or hit up the local parade in your town, it will be sure to please the entire family! Dress up in your favorite USA themed clothing, paint the kids’ faces with stripes and stars, and head out with the rest of the town.

Getting crafty with the kids is a great way to keep them occupied during the long summer months. They can make popsicle stick flags, clothespin wreaths, grab cool stones from the lake front and paint them, or paint the lawn with red, white, and blue stars! Get creative and let the kids—and yourselves—have fun while celebrating our country’s independence!

What’s more American than hosting a BBQ filled with burgers, hot dogs, cold drinks, and of course, red, white, and blue desserts? Invite your family and friends over and have the ultimate summer cookout. Fill up a cooler with fun, cool drinks, cover the grill in burgers, dogs, and brats, buy bomb pops, and create a flag cake!

Complete your Fourth of July BBQ with classic games like cornhole, bocce ball, water balloon fights, and beer (or water) pong. And don’t forget go see the fireworks as the sun starts to go down.

Hit the Lake

You have the day off, it’s hot outside, and everyone has their new swimsuits on. Head over to your favorite lake! Everyone can swim, play games, fish, or you can host your BBQ here. Build a big bonfire and let everyone go wild roasting marshmallows for s’mores!

Do you have a boat? Now is the perfect time to take it out for tubing, skiing, or a sunset cruise. Finish off the night by anchoring in the middle of the lake to have the best view of the fireworks over the water!

No Fourth of July celebration is complete without fireworks! Most towns put on their own shows, or you can head over to a larger city. Make sure to bring a blanket, drinks, a flashlight, and have some fun with glowsticks or other America-themed gear like light up necklaces or headbands.

Depending on state laws, you can even shoot off some fireworks at home! Make sure that the ground isn’t too dry though—you don’t want to risk any fires. Be sure to check state laws so that the police won’t bust your party. Even if your state doesn’t allow this, most states still let you have sparklers or smaller items like worms, firecrackers, or bottle rockets.
